Anne Joyce Scholarship for Professional Development
In June of 2021, the HR community lost one of its own, when Anne Slein Joyce passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Over Anne’s 30+ years in HR, she worked for Polaroid, Draper Labs and New England Treatment Access (NETA). She also served on the NEHRA Board for several years, including as President from 2006-2007.
Beyond Anne’s immense HR expertise, was her passion for teaching and mentoring. Long after her time on the NEHRA Board, she remained deeply engaged with us as an advisor and faculty member. She was always quick with a smile and eager to help. Anne brought limitless joy and energy when she arrived at our events, and we will certainly all miss that as we move on without her in our world.
As a life- long learner, we know Anne would not want anyone to be held back due to inability to fund their professional development. Therefore, we have created this scholarship in Anne’s name, which will be awarded annually starting this year. The winner will receive $1,500 (combined cash and NEHRA programming credit) to be used over the course of 12 months (some exclusions apply).
In order to qualify for this scholarship, you must be a current NEHRA member and a full-time HR practitioner within an organization in Greater New England. *Scholarship funds cannot be applied retroactive to the award date. Please note, you are not eligible if you’ve already won a NEHRA scholarship within the last 36 months.

Barry Bograd Scholarship for HR Certification and Professional Development
This scholarship is presented in honor of Barry Bograd, one of the founding members of NEHRA. Along with John Erdlen, Barry helped to shape the foundation and direction of the association. He had a lifelong “love affair” with human resources, providing thought leadership, mentoring and development of future HR leaders. Barry believed strongly in the role NEHRA played in developing the profession through education and support. We are honored to recognize Barry in this way – he was a true champion of the profession.
